January 2, 2014 ChiliBurgers (ground beef)

If this experiment is going to have legs, I’ll occasionally need to find a way to disguise the fact that we are (again) eating chili.  Here is an idea I hatched during a long run.  Nothing beats a burger afterwards.

I know the pieces fit together somehow.

This was technically a “burger” failure, as the patties lost their composure in the pan. It was, however, a nice win for chili flavor.  This would be the first sloppy-joe-type sandwich that I have enjoyed eating.  Chili Joes anyone?

6oz tomato paste

1T chili powder

1T onion flakes

1t garlic pepper seasoning

Mix and sauté for 10 minutes.

Refrigerate overnight .

1T butter

¼ C finely diced onions

¼ C finely diced green pepper

Sauté onions and pepper in butter- 5 minutes.

Mix tomato paste mixture, sautéed vegetables and 1 pound of ground beef.

Form into 4 patties.

Pan fry until done.
